Love the Giants and Bears this weekend. I'm leaning towards the Colts this week, too. I would lean towards the Panthers and Vikings in those games, though I'll have to look at it again before I commit. Let me detail more on a couple of these.

BEARS/STEELERS: This is the value pick of the week. This opened with the Bears as 4 point underdogs and has been bet (at least around here) to 5 1/2 in two days! What am I missing here? The Bears on an 8-game win streak, the Steelers on a 3-game losing streak, and the Steelers get bet up? Both these streaks will come to an end, and probably fairly soon, but I don't see the Steelers at home as 6 or more points better than the Bears. With the Chicago defense playing at a record clip, I see the Steelers having a hard time putting up too many points on the Bears anywhere, even in Pittsburg. I don't think it's crazy to say the Steelers score no more than 10, since that's what the Bears are holding just about everyone to these days. If that's the case, you have to figure the Bears only score 3 points to win the bet gambling on Steeltown. Despite a sorry Bears offense, I wouldn't bet on that. That Pittsburg defense is a little shellshocked and may be lacking in confidence. Heck, turnovers alone mean the Bears score a little, off of field position if not outright scores. I've already bet this one for the Bears at 5 1/2.

GIANTS/EAGLES: This isn't the Eagles team we've known these past few years. All of the offensive stars are out for the year. The defense was playing ragged even when McNaab, Owens and Westbrook were in the lineup. Like most teams after a few years contending, the Eagles have gotten old and worn out before our eyes. They remind me a little of the Cowboys of the late-90's, in Switzer's final year. They have a big reputation and a nucleus of players with a lot of pride, but they've hit the breaking point. That Cowboys' team lost in Cincinati, then lost every game the last month of the season. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Eagles do the same. Bet the Giants.

COLTS/JAGS: The Jags have a reputation for playing the Colts tough. For that reason, the Jags opened as a 7 1/2 point underdog. My gut instinct is the Jags won't keep it quite as close this time. With Leftwich out, I think this game could get ugly. Garrard can run, but he'll need to pass the ball to keep the Jags in this game. When that doesn't happen, the Colts pull away. The question is how long the defense can keep the Jags in the game. If they can into the second half, anything can happen. It's just my hunch that the Colts are on a mission, and they'll take advantage of a Jacksonville team without its leader.
