Default Sports Betting in Delaware?

As reported by the Delaware State News: "Legislation authorizing sports betting in Delaware cleared one hurdle Tuesday, but it might fall short of becoming law in the face of a threatened veto from Gov. Ruth Ann Minner.

"The House Gaming and Parimutuels Committee released the measure after an hour-long hearing, but even sponsor and committee chair Rep. Vincent A. Lofink, R-Bear, is unsure of the bill's future with the governor's stated opposition.

"...Delaware is one of only four states — and the only one east of the Mississippi River — that can have sports betting because it is grandfathered from a 1992 federal law prohibiting the practice.

"The measure would require the Delaware Lottery Office to re-establish sports betting in the First State and develop rules and regulations for the practice, which is estimated to bring in $70 million in annual revenue to the state..."
