Hi, my poker room just informed me that I have won a seat in a $95 seat in a $150,000+ pool tournament. I am not sure as to how many other players are also registered, but it is a big one, and this is the first time I have played in a tourney this big.

What kind of advice are you looking for, killerpokertim?

The big tournaments always get tough the closer you get to the end. It is not enough to keep your ground and get to a paying position passively !

I agree. As the blinds get bigger and bigger, you have to make some moves or you'll be bled dry. And at a certain point, you just have to let it all hang out. How many poker games have we seen where someone playing correctly got put out by someone who just got lucky? It happens. My advise it to play, enjoy the moment, and don't sweat the outcome to much. If it's not your day in the sun, then it will be at a later date. Anyway, that's my best attempt at being encouraging. Hope it worked. ![]()

Right, usually in the smaller tournaments I play it as safe as possible and just survive the blinds, but one time I played the next level up, thinking I can use the same strategy, and I was just eaten alive.
I get to a poker site, I really want to get to a good position in this one, I know how to play aggressively too but I want to have a good strategy before I start. |
