Default Boardwalk Closes

I just read that the Boardwalk hotel on the strip closed on February 9 to make way for a parking garage for the MGM. I've stayed at the Boardwalk a few times, and eaten at their notoriously bad breakfast buffet many times too. I still can't hear "Help Me Rhonda" by the Beach Boys without thinking about the place.

R.I.P. Boardwalk. Another small and quaint Vegas hotel gone for good.

Default Farewell

And it's replaced by a parking garage?! Man, that's like something right out of a Hollywood movie. Of course, if it were a movie, Vince Vaughn and a group of plucky underdogs would have a week to come up with the cash.

Default Going...... Going......Gone

I believe there are luxury high rise condos going in on the Boardwalk site. I had to drive up there today and noted that the Westward Ho is now a big open lot too. Ya gotta love a town that puts absolutely no stock in history. As opposed to the Israelis who lay claim to the entire frigging Middle East based upon a trumped up history. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! What happens in Tel Aviv lands in Beruit!

That's what you get when corporations are involved. No respect for history. I'm surprised the city of Las Vegas hasn't sold their naming rights to some company.

What happens in Exxon/Mobil stays in Exxon/Mobil.

Default History isn't overrated in Vegas.....it ISN'T rated!!

But isn't that part of the mystique of Vegas? Part of what makes it truly unique! It would not be a city true to its image if it preserved old hotels and honored the past. It is a city built upon today and tomorrow. It's a city that is quite reflective of its patrons.........You suffer a bad beat and forget about it when your first cards hit the table the next day. Ya gotta love that sort of reality as it applies to "Sin City." Let Philadelphia preserve it's history.........Let Las Vegas perpetuate it's future!

I've stayed at the Boardwalk on more than one occasion. It wasn't much of a hotel, that's for sure.
