Default Internet Gambling Clauses Added to Port Security Bill

Apparently they couldn't find the time or the votes to include language about railway security to the Port Security bill, but they managed to tack on language regarding Internet gambling to a completely unrelated piece of legislation.

"If this is all about port security then why is there a provision to prevent internet gambling?" Representative Shelley Berkley demanded to know. She represents the state of Nevada, which is presumably in the pro-regulation but anti-prohibition camp.

Great article at Gambling 911 regarding this too.

Oh, who cares about railway security, anyway? The Republicans won, and that's all that really matters. America is now 100% safe.

Thank God for the GOP. Now excuse me while I go hang myself.

It's all going to be okay though. The really bad legislation, the stuff with teeth, would have amended the Wire Act to include the Internet specifically, which would have been far more serious.

Of course, this could be on the agenda for the next session too.

The Republican party seems like it's in free fall these days with the war, the economy and scandal. If there's a major shift in power in November, do you think it's possible that under the Democrats the law might be overturned at some point?
