Grandfather Banned from Bingo Hall

57-year-old John Wells claims he's just a character. However, managers at Mecca Bingo don't think so. Mecca Bingo, a bingo hall in Stevenae, Herts, barred Mr. Wells for shouting too loudly when his numbers came up.

After several complaints were received from other bingo players, the local bingo hall decided to ban the loud grandfather for a month.

John Wells, a coach company director, says the ban is "ridiculous". "I always yell 'wakey, wakey!' but I don't think it's particularly loud. People see me as a character."

Wells has said that this month-long suspension won't stop him from playing bingo elsewhere. He has been playing bingo for 25 years, and he plans to return to Mecca after serving his ban.

With regards to the complaints, Mr. Wells has his own theory. He suspects jealousy to be the cause of the complaints and subsequent ban, as he has won quite a lot of money, including one recent prize of about £6,000.00. However, a spokeswoman from the hall has insisted that the complaints have been coming for some time, and Mr. Wells has been spoken to a number of times about his yelling.

Seems a bit rough, doesn't it? I thought that was half the fun of playing bingo in a bingo hall, you get to meet and see all the characters that frequent these places!
