Roulette is a negative expectation game. You are never a favorite no matter how you bet. The betting progression mentioned earlier is called the Martingale, and it will only work at a table where there are no betting limits and if you have an infinite bankroll. You basically guarantee yourself nothing but small wins using that system, and you also (if you keep playing) guarantee yourself an eventually huge loss.
